The European Criminal Bar Association (ECBA) strongly condemns the U.S. sanctions imposed on four International Criminal Court (ICC) officials, including Judges Nicolas Guillou and Kimberly Prost, and Deputy Prosecutors Nazhat Shameem Khan and Mame Mandiaye Niang.

These measures are a grave assault on the rule of law and judicial independence, particularly targeting officials for performing their judicial and prosecutorial duties related to the Afghanistan and Israel situations.

The ECBA stands in solidarity with the ICC Bar Association and urges all States Parties to the Rome Statute to unequivocally protect the Court's mandate and integrity from political retaliation.

Safeguarding the ICC is essential for global criminal justice.
