The ECBA has published a report examining the operation of INTERPOL’s data processing and oversight mechanisms, with particular focus on the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files (CCF). Drawing on practitioner experience, the report highlights areas where existing reforms have made progress and where further improvements are needed.
The report identifies ongoing challenges in relation to delays, disclosure, pre-emptive requests, refugee protection and access to effective remedies. It sets out practical recommendations aimed at enhancing fairness, transparency and accountability within INTERPOL’s systems. The ECBA hopes this contribution will support constructive engagement between INTERPOL, its member states and all stakeholders committed to upholding fundamental rights in international police cooperation.
